FAQs

what is copy?

Copy is the means by which you inform, describe, or explain your concepts, processes, values, and personality to your reader. It is the very basis of written communication with your online audience. Just as a clear photograph can say a thousand words, clear copy can build a picture in your reader’s mind that not only tells them what you have to say but shows them who you are. A well-written website speaks volumes about your credibility and shows your reader how much you value their attention.

It’s not so much about what you say as how you say it!

what is brand voice coaching?

My approach to brand voice works from the foundation that effective brand copy should be clear, concise, and compelling. Your words hold your unique energy. Learn to harness and articulate it for a distinctive and memorable brand that will attract your tribe to you.

You work dang hard to formulate your message. I guide you to ensure this message is not only accurate (that is professional in a grammatical, syntactical, and stylistic sense) but also authentic. That’s because, in order to compel your reader, your writing should “speak” to your reader. It should not only say, “I am a professional and worthy of your time” but also scream, “I am genuine and interesting to hang out with.” Words that come from a solid place of understanding can define your difference.

I encourage you to shake off the self-limiting beliefs to get your word out there in the clearest and purest way to those who need to hear it.

do you do copywriting?

Believe me, I understand that time is tight as an entrepreneur, but I also know that the most effective way to reach your ideal client or customer is with your own words, carefully crafted. For this reason, I prefer a collaborative approach whereby I support you in writing your own unique copy that contains the essence of your brand. I believe in the power and the energy of your words to magnetize your message for the right reader.

who do you work with?

I work with spirited and soulful entrepreneurs who have a genuine passion for their work. They have an inspiring message to share and dream of making a difference to the lives of others. They want and deserve to maintain control and creative license over their words but need to gain the clarity and confidence to communicate them. The majority of my clients are women who have a strong message and a voice in other areas of life but struggle to find an authentic way to articulate their vision and value in a business message.

do i have an inner writer?

Yes, you do. Sometimes the overwhelming tasks of daily life make it hard to see and tap into your creative potential. But it is there. And the good news is, creativity breeds creativity. The more time you give to creative tasks, including journaling and brainstorming, the easier it becomes to be creative.

As the wonderfully wise Maya Angelou once said, “You cannot use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.”

Know that you are creative to your core and that content creation is a practice that will become more natural and inspired over time.

how do you tame my inner writer?

Does it feel like everyone else is better at expressing themselves than you? There are many reasons your inner writer may be in hiding and most of them will fit into one of my three areas of content strategy: vision, voice, and vibration.

Here are some comments I encounter often related to vision:

“People don’t seem to get what I do.”

“I just don’t know what to say.”

“I find it hard to get to the point.”

And voice:

“I’ve never been good with words.”

“I don’t know how much of my personal story to put into my business copy.”

“My brand voice doesn’t sound like me.”

And vibration:

“My writing is dull and boring. I don’t know how to make it more compelling.”

“I want to make my writing more distinct so that people want to read it.”

“I’ve taken courses in this stuff, and I’m a pretty good writer. But there’s just something missing.”

The reason I incorporate coaching sessions and journaling exercises into my packages is to find out what is holding you back. To pose the questions that allow me (and your reader) to see and feel your purpose, personality, and passion so that we can trust and like your brand for what it is, not what you suppose it should be.

And this kind of writing should not feel forced or fake.

A good dose of self-reflection in coaching calls and journaling exercises combined with a commitment to crafting your own regular content is what I need from you. My word weaving guidance and intuition will bring it all together to distill your message in its clearest and most expressive form. That’s the collaborative secret to uncovering the power of your words and claiming your own copy with pride. And what’s more, it holds the added bonus of learning about yourself and your business in the process. I’d love to discuss this more with you.
