Story Fairy Sessions

weave your wisdom | leave your legacy

Your story is stirring.

Memories flitter in and out of your mind like butterflies ready to take flight.

You know your wisdom wasn’t meant to simply serve you.

And that there is more to be understood from having your tales heard.

But where do you start to tease apart the threads that are worth sharing?

How do you begin to combine the streams of separate stories into a sea of smooth-flowing connection?

Welcome to Story Fairy Sessions.

Let’s weave a series of stories that encapsulates your essence, your wisdom, and your legacy.

Lightly, gently, and meaningfully.

It’s me, Lauren:

Story Weaver. Wisdom Keeper.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve held my words tight. As a child, my bed drawers were filled with poems that “weren’t very good,” padlocked diaries of “unrealistic dreams,” and crumpled up song lyrics that I would cringe to expose to curious eyes.

It was only a matter of time before words would break out of the closet to chase me.

In university, I fell into a class on storytelling, myth, and magic. One day in the library, a book flew off the shelf and landed in the aisle next to me. It was a collection of fairy tales unlike the ones I’d inherited from Disney. These were gut-wrenchingly real stories exposing the ugliest fears, deepest longings, and muddiest moments of women’s lives disguised as fantasy.

I found relevance in every single one.

Wait: How could my modern life be mirrored in centuries-old tales of taverns and nursemaids? How could I relate to women who shape-shifted and beguiled, fought for their freedom and fled the kingdom?

Stories are unique in offering us a translucent experience. We don’t only see the story, we see ourselves through it. The collective consciousness that exists in both reader and writer alike recognises its co-existence. The interconnectedness it weaves unites…and ignites.

You see, stories are not just told. They are lived and then passed on.

Whether we are conscious of it or not, we are the sum of all the stories that have gone before us. And the equation remains open for the courageous to make their mark before moving on.

As present as the water in our cells, stories infuse every breath we take and word we make. There is no seeking a story. No stringing together.

A story doesn’t ask for perfection. It has no rigid beginning, middle, and end.

It simply IS, was, and will be. An eternal reminder that you exist.

Telling your story is one of those inevitable kinds of goals. Of course your stories are seeking expression. They deserve no less. And you simply must keep them moving or suffocate under the weight of silence.

I know how it feels to hold your history close to your chest, to keep your best-kept secrets up your sleeve for fear that speaking them may dull their allure or expose their weakness.

And I also know how liberating and en-lightening it is to let them go.

To venture to weave your creativity into a conscious legacy.

I want you to know that, whether you have a full draft sitting on the shelf or a blank page document on your desktop to start you off, you have the wisdom and the capability to write a story that is significant enough to share.

And you’ll learn a lesson or two about yourself and the patterns of your most purposeful and meaningful moments in the process.

“With 20 years of teaching creative writing to gifted students, I thought I knew a thing or two about creative expression, but Lauren taught me the art and nuance of writing so that your audience clearly sees where they fit into your world with you.”
